WWE Royal Rumble 2026 Results: Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan Win in Riyadh

Royal Rumble 2026 Results Recap

Last updated: 22 October 2026. WWE Royal Rumble 2026 took place on Saturday, 31 January 2026 at the Riyadh Season Stadium in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), Riyadh. Liv Morgan won the women’s Royal Rumble match and Roman Reigns won the men’s Royal Rumble match.

The WWE Royal Rumble 2026 marks a historic first for sports entertainment. For the first time since the event debuted in 1988, Royal Rumble will be held outside North America, with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia hosting one of WWE’s most important annual events.

Set during Riyadh Season, Royal Rumble 2026 was not a special edition or regional show. It was the official 39th Royal Rumble, featuring both the Men’s and Women’s 30-Superstar matches that launched the Road to WrestleMania 42. This recap covers the results, the venue and the story of a landmark night for WWE in Saudi Arabia.

WWE and GEA Confirm Royal Rumble Riyadh 2026

WWE and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) of Saudi Arabia jointly announced Royal Rumble 2026 as a landmark addition to the Kingdom’s entertainment calendar.

In an official statement, WWE described the move as a defining moment in its international expansion, emphasizing that bringing Royal Rumble to Riyadh reflects the scale and maturity of its partnership with Saudi Arabia.

The GEA echoed that message, positioning Royal Rumble as part of Riyadh Season’s goal to host globally recognized, culturally significant events that attract both local and international audiences.

Together, these statements establish Royal Rumble Riyadh as a fully sanctioned, main-calendar WWE Premium Live Event with global broadcast priority.

The Royal Rumble Riyadh Stage is Set

This isn’t just marketing copy. The announcement carried two clear statements of intent. Saudi GEA Chairman HE Turki Alalshikh said the Kingdom aims to “bring the world’s largest and most important entertainment events” and deliver “a transformative experience” for fans — positioning the Rumble as a crown-jewel moment of the Season.

WWE President Nick Khan called the move a natural expansion of WWE’s relationship with Saudi Arabia and highlighted January 2026 in Riyadh as the right time and place. Those quotes tell you the scale WWE and the GEA are targeting for the production and the weekend around it.

What Is Royal Rumble and Why 2026 Is Different

Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s most important annual events, built around two over-the-top-rope battle royals:

• Men’s Royal Rumble: 30 Superstars, timed entrances, winner earns a WrestleMania title match
• Women’s Royal Rumble: 30 Superstars, same stakes, same global spotlight

The format rewards surprise returns, debuts, and long-term storytelling. Winning Royal Rumble often defines WWE’s championship picture for the entire year.

What makes 2026 different is location and symbolism. Hosting Royal Rumble in Riyadh elevates Saudi Arabia from hosting major WWE events to hosting one of WWE’s four most important brands, alongside WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series.

• City: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
• Venue: Riyadh Season Stadium, King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD)

Friday Night SmackDown also took place in Riyadh on January 30, 2026, creating a full WWE weekend for fans attending in person.

KAFD is a modern, centrally located district designed for large-scale international events, with premium hospitality zones, controlled access points, and strong transport connectivity across Riyadh.

WWE SmackDown Riyadh: January 30, 2026

WWE SmackDown aired live from Riyadh the night before Royal Rumble, giving fans a rare opportunity to attend two major WWE shows on consecutive nights.

SmackDown episodes ahead of Royal Rumble traditionally:

• Advance championship storylines
• Feature final confrontations and contract signings
• Set the tone for Rumble eliminations and surprise entrants

For traveling fans, attending SmackDown alongside Royal Rumble offers a complete WWE weekend experience and greater value from the trip.

WWE Storylines and Royal Rumble Stakes

Royal Rumble is the launchpad for WrestleMania season, and its stakes are unmatched.

Recent WWE programming on RAW and SmackDown has emphasized championship volatility and long-term rivalries, setting the stage for Rumble outcomes to reshape title pictures. The Men’s and Women’s winners will headline WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, making every elimination meaningful.

While WWE does not confirm entrants in advance, the anticipation of surprise returns, legacy appearances, and breakout performances remains central to Royal Rumble’s appeal. Historically, these moments define the event as much as the winners themselves.

Saudi Culture, Dress Code and Fan Etiquette

Royal Rumble Riyadh brings WWE’s global spectacle into a culturally distinct environment. For international visitors, understanding local norms enhances the experience.

• Dress code: There is no formal requirement, but modest, comfortable attire is recommended in line with local customs
• Family environment: WWE events in Saudi Arabia are family-friendly, with mixed seating and broad age attendance
• Women’s matches: Female Superstars compete in gear adapted to local standards, typically featuring full-length coverage while maintaining character presentation

Saudi Arabia has hosted WWE events since 2018, and each year the presentation has grown more polished and internationally familiar while respecting cultural expectations.

What to expect from the women’s Rumble in Riyadh

There’s history here. WWE ran its first women’s match in Saudi Arabia in Riyadh back in 2019, when Natalya faced Lacey Evans at Crown Jewel. It was a breakthrough that required attire adjustments and careful coordination with local authorities, and it set the stage for every women’s match since.

The women have continued to perform on Saudi PLE cards with modest adaptations to gear that meet local rules while preserving character presentation. Expect that blend again in 2026 with costume designs optimized for the climate and the broadcast.
