Al Hazem 0-3 Al Hilal: Match Result, 2 May 2026

Last updated: 22 October 2026. Al Hilal won 3-0 away at Al Hazem in the Saudi Pro League on 2 May 2026. Al Hazem were the home side at Al Hazem Club Stadium in Ar Rass. Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the 9th minute, Marcos Leonardo added the second in the 82nd minute, and Ruben Neves completed the scoring with a penalty at 90+3 minutes. Al Hilal had travelled to Ar Rass sitting second in the league, eight points behind the leaders, knowing any dropped points would effectively end their championship hopes, and they took all three points.

Why This Result Mattered in the Title Race

This fixture carried immense weight because Al-Hilal could not afford any further mistakes. Their AFC Champions League Elite exit on penalties had refocused all energy on domestic glory. The Saudi Pro League title race was their sole remaining priority, and the 3-0 win in Ar Rass delivered the three points they needed.

Al-Hazem presented a unique threat despite their mid-table position. They had secured their survival with a confident 2-0 win over Al-Fayha on April 11. The home side played with absolute freedom and nothing to lose, a mentality that made them dangerous against an injury-hit Al-Hilal squad on an artificial surface, but the visitors still came away with a 3-0 win.

Head-to-Head Record: Al Hazem vs Al Hilal

Al-Hilal has historically dominated this matchup across recent seasons. In the last ten meetings before this match, Al-Hilal had 7 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss, with just a single victory for Al-Hazem in that run. The Riyadh Derby presents a different challenge, but this fixture had been one-sided.

The previous meeting came at Kingdom Arena on January 8, 2026. Al-Hilal secured a comfortable 3-0 win with goals from three different scorers. Al-Hazem’s only win in the last ten encounters before May 2026 came at their home stadium.

Form Guide: How Both Sides Arrived

Al-Hilal’s last five matches before this game showed a pattern of W-D-W-L-W. The 6-0 thrashing of Al-Kholood was exceptional, but inconsistency had crept into their performances. Karim Benzema’s hat-trick against Al-Okhdood showed their ceiling.

Al-Hazem arrived with a form line of W-D-L-L-W. Omar Al Somah remained their biggest threat after scoring his 160th career SPL goal.

Tactics: How the Sides Set Up

Simone Inzaghi set up Al-Hilal in his standard 4-3-3 formation for this crucial away test, looking for early goals to avoid any tense final stages, and Benzema’s 9th minute opener delivered exactly that start.

Al-Hazem used a pragmatic five-man defensive block at home. Omar Al Somah served as an isolated target man for their transition attacks, and set pieces represented the home side’s most reliable route to a goal.

Venue Guide: Al-Hazem Club Stadium in Ar Rass

The stadium sits roughly 370 kilometers northwest of Riyadh in the Al-Qassim region. This venue holds approximately 15,000 spectators across two main stands. For comparison, King Fahd International Stadium is Riyadh’s premier venue with much larger capacity.

Over 5,100 parking spaces with illuminated markings surround the stadium. A park-and-ride service typically operates for major fixtures like this one. Fans must wear attire supporting their section’s team. Rival kits in the wrong sections will result in entry being denied.

The drive from central Riyadh takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. Overnight travel or an early Saturday departure is strongly recommended. ANB Arena is closer to central Riyadh for other major events.
